About me
Hello! I'm Melissa Espinoza, I have been a LAUSD teacher for almost three decades with experience across various grades in LAUSD, currently teaching 5th grade in a STEAM Magnet program. My journey in education has taken me from teaching inclusion in a 4/5 combo class to where I am today. Over the years, my commitment to shaping young minds has been recognized through awards such as the Platinum Apple Awards for Excellence in Education and a nomination for LAUSD teacher of the year by parents. I've also had the privilege of participating in the 2022 Northrop Grumman Foundation Teachers Academy.
Education is not just a profession for me; it's a calling. I have a Master’s in Education and have furthered my commitment to teaching by completing a mini Credential in STEAM with LAUSD. My approach to teaching goes beyond academics. I strive to create a classroom environment that is safe and nurturing, where every student feels seen and valued.
I pride myself in establishing a secure and encouraging environment where every child is not only acknowledged but also truly appreciated. I integrate Social and Emotional Learning into our daily interactions, our daily lessons, and daily social connections. I am dedicated to helping students cultivate self-awareness, foster empathy, and build resilience. In my classroom, my students strive towards inner strength and kindness that will influence their lives positively.
