About me
A graduate of UCLA with a Degree in Mathematical and Applied Science with honors, Gloria Amador is truly a “renaissance woman”. Personally, Gloria Amador desired to pave the way for those less fortunate and coupled with her love of learning, she chose the career path to become an educator. As UCLA’s Physical Science Commencement Speaker, Gloria knew if she could give her graduation speech to a crowd of thousands, she could one day teach a classroom of 25 students. During her tenure with the Los Angeles Unified School District, she was granted the remarkable opportunity to hone her teaching talents to inspire, to motivate and above all to impart knowledge to others. It was truly a unique and once in a lifetime opportunity to long-term substitute teach in High School from Pre-Calculus to AP Spanish, in Middle School from 6th grade math and science to 7th grade history, in elementary school from 5th grade thru Kindergarten. While she cherished all her teaching roles, the one that brought her the greatest joy was teaching kindergarten. From story-time on the carpet building oral language and a love of reading and early literacy, to counting collections to build mathematical literacy - being a part of a child's first educational experience was transformative. There is no place, Gloria Amador would rather be everyday than in a kindergarten setting, where she can inspire, motivate and educate children to reach their full potential with high expectations, a big heart and a smile! In the immortal rhyme style of Dr.Seuss, Gloria is proud to say, “I love what I DO and that will always be TRUE”! If you're looking for Gloria Amador, you will find her in an LAUSD classroom today, tomorrow and for the next 25 years!
