About me
Hello! I'm Dr. Alexis Julianna Contreras, first-generation Latina/Chicana doctoral student from CSULB. I graduated from UCLA in 2016 with a B.A. in Psychology, minor in Theater – and once again in 2018 with a Master of Education (specialization in STEM). I currently serve as an instructional coach for RFK's New Open World Academy in LAUSD. I have been an educator for the last 8 years and have experience in both elementary and secondary classrooms. I have a passion for transformational coaching, ethnic studies, and social justice education. My research focuses on the lack of Latina high school social science teachers in Southern California. I hope to help diversify the teacher workforce and help integrate ethnic studies curriculum across content areas.
