Afrodita has dedicated over 22 years to teaching a variety of subjects including Biology, Marine Biology, Physiology, AP Biology, Environmental Science, and advisory classes for grades 9th-12th in LAUSD. , dedicated to igniting a passion for learning in her students. With a profound appreciation for nature, she ignites a passion for learning in her students as she integrates project-based learning, real-world learning experiences, and social emotional learning strategies to foster personal, social, and academic growth.
Beyond the classroom, Afrodita engages in yoga and gardens with students. She volunteers with organizations like the Sierra Club’s Angeles Inspiring Connections Outdoors, guiding students on nature excursions. She has developed partnerships with institutions such as the Ocean Exploration Trust, where she spent 21 days at sea aboard Exploration Vessel Nautilus. These local and global partnerships enhance her teaching practice and nurture her spirit. Recognized for her commitment to environmental education, Afrodita continues to inspire students and promote lifelong learning as a steward of the planet because after all, mother nature provides our air, water, and food through her terrestrial and marine ecosystems.
